SDLA Boardmember--Colin Parent

Colin Parent - Co-Director and Founder

Colin Parent is the Director of Policy at the San Diego Housing Commission, and he is the Co-Director and founder of the San Diego Leadership Alliance.

In 2010, Colin joined the Jerry Brown for Governor campaign, after which he was appointed by Governor Brown as the Director of External affairs at the Department of Housing and Community Development. Colin led the Brown Administration’s reform efforts of the State Enterprise Zone program. Prior to working for the Governor’s campaign, Colin practiced law for three years as a commercial litigator at the San Diego office of the international law firm of DLA Piper US LLP.

Colin has a longtime commitment to developing a more useful progressive infrastructure in San Diego. Colin co-founded the San Diego Leadership Alliance, an organization that trains progressives to be equipped for civic leadership. As a board member of the League of Conservation Voters San Diego, he led the first ever coalition to grade the environmental records of elected officials in the City of San Diego. He also founded the San Diego chapter of the American Constitution Society, a national organization committed to a progressive view of law and policy. As their longtime Political Director, Colin helped organize the San Diego County Young Democrats into a growing and reliable source of walkers, fundraisers, and local campaign staff.

Colin is a graduate of the NYU Law School, and the University of California, San Diego. He enjoys Southwest Airlines frequent flyer miles, spending quality time with his Kindle, and taking pictures of his food. Find out more at colinparent.org.
