Election returns in San Diego - a civic tradition

San Diego is fairly unique for a major city in that all campaigns, all parties, and all of the local media outlets join together at Golden Hall in the downtown Civic Center for a huge gathering.

After more than a year of a fierce presidential election, the capstone for all of that effort is to watch the election returns. Sure, the networks will all cover the outcome, but tonight you have an opportunity to watch them with your fellow San Diegans.

San Diego is fairly unique for a major city in that all campaigns, all parties, and all of the local media outlets join together at Golden Hall in the downtown Civic Center for a huge gathering. Everyone connects, watches returns projected live on a huge screen, and celebrates the end of a long, hard fight. It's a tremendous and cross-partisan civic experience.

In San Diego, there is also a rich tradition for campaigns and political parties to host open events for all of their supporters, and the general public. Most are centered close to Golden Hall, so supporters can walk between events and Golden Hall, and to never be too far from the action.

Below is a list of the events that we know about so far. Stop on by, check it out, and be a part of a San Diego civic tradition.
