Guadalupe (Lupe) Rojas (she/her)

Guadalupe (Lupe) was born in Tijuana, Baja California and has considered Southern California her home since 1999.

During her undergraduate studies at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, she participated in extracurricular activities including the Model Organization of American States (MOAS) where she became familiar with various social, political, and environmental issues in the Western Hemisphere. This helped her recognize how the effects of climate change affect the most vulnerable communities, and why environmental policy matters.

After obtaining her B.A. in History, she interned at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. as a fellow of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities. It was after this internship that she left behind her life-long dream of becoming a history teacher and found a new purpose in life: To help the underrepresented sectors of society combat the challenges of the future.

In 2021 Lupe returned to Tijuana in pursuit of a master’s degree in public policy at UC San Diego. However, her plans changed when she was offered the opportunity to work at Mid-City CAN. As a community organizer, Lupe helped City Heights residents, mostly Spanish speaking moms, participate in SANDAG’s 2025 Regional Plan and advocate for the extensions of the Youth Opportunity Pass (YOP) program. As a Policy Advocate, she wishes to be a resourceful peer and help community organizers advance their campaigns in transportation and housing justice.

In her spare time, Lupe enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, walking with her dogs, and reading historical fiction.
