Kenneth Bush (he/him/el)

Kenneth Bush is the Project Manager for the California Medicine Scholars Program (CMSP) at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where he works to advance health equity by building a durable, community college to medical school pathway across San Diego and Imperial Counties. His work centers on aligning public institutions, higher education, and community partners to create systems that expand access, strengthen transfer outcomes, and prepare students from historically excluded backgrounds for opportunities in medicine.

A California Community College graduate originally from Calexico, Kenneth’s experiences shaped his understanding of how policy, institutional practice, and access to guidance influence the opportunities for community college students. He began his academic journey at Cerritos College and is a product of pathway programs such as Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine, MiMentor, and Medicos, Enfermeros, y Dentistas Para El Pueblo (UCLA). After transferring to California State University, Long Beach, he joined the NIH BUILD Scholars Program, where he deepened his work in health equity advocacy and health outcomes

research.

Kenneth earned a Master of Science in Health Promotion from the University of Oklahoma and returned to Southern California committed to strengthening the civic and institutional infrastructure that supports student success. Through CMSP, he works to ensure future physicians reflect and remain invested in the communities they serve to address the inequities in patient outcomes. He believes lasting change is built through uplifting others, shared leadership, and systems that move people from communities in need into positions of influence.

In his free time Kenneth enjoys watching basketball, playing Pokémon, or curating playlists for every occasion. He also enjoys sharing and receiving music and food recommendations.
