Ryan SanCartier (he/him/his)
Ryan moved to San Diego from the Twin Cities in November of 2025 to be closer to family. He is currently performing government affairs work as a contractor for Intesa Communications Group and is happy to be meeting and serving his new San Diego community.
He is driven by a deep commitment to helping others thrive and by a strong sense of responsibility to advocate for those in need. He is dedicated to confronting tough issues with professionalism and resolve, and is deliberate in creating environments where fairness, dignity, and mutual respect are the standard—not the exception.
After campaign managing local and state races in Minnesota to begin his career, he served the Minneapolis City Council for 6 years as a Senior Policy Advisor. In April of 2020, he became an interim councilmember after his boss resigned to lead the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority. That spring and summer, as civil unrest and the pandemic disproportionally impacted the district he represented and called home, Ryan led with vulnerability and empathy to effectively support his community.
Before moving, Ryan served as the Government Affairs Director for the Minnesota Mechanical Contractors Association and the Minnesota chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association. In this role, he partnered with Republican and Democrat lawmakers to pass legislation creating safer working environments in construction and to streamline cumbersome permitting processes that disrupted housing production and other development.
