Diane Anaya (she/her/ella)

Diane Anaya is a proud first-generation San Diegan. Raised in central San Diego, she was exposed early on to structural inequities that helped shape her commitment to advocacy and community-based work. Diane earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in History of the Americas from the University of California, Riverside. She began her advocacy work as a college student through involvement in the UCR Lobby Corps, supporting initiative-driven efforts in Riverside focused on expanding educational access for individuals and families impacted by incarceration.

Diane currently serves as the PRIME Program Coordinator at the University of California, San

Diego School of Medicine. She supports both PRIME Health Equity and PRIME Transforming

Indigenous Doctor Education (PRIME-TIDE), programs aligned in their mission to strengthen

workforce development pathways that prepare future physicians to serve marginalized and underserved communities across Southern California. Through this work, Diane collaborates closely with students and faculty to build and strengthen pathways for physicians committed to community-engaged and equity-centered care. PRIME-TIDE specifically focuses on building trust-based partnerships with Native and Indigenous communities to support a physician

workforce dedicated to serving Native populations in the region.

In her free time, Diane enjoys creating artwork for her Paint and Sip classes and spending time

outdoors, often taking walks along the beach with her soul dog, Theo.
