Gabby Simon (she/her)
Gabby Simon is a community organizer and advocate currently working at Viet Voices, where
she supports efforts to build power, amplify community voices, and advance equity for working
families. Born and raised in Murrieta, California, Gabby’s upbringing in Southern California shaped her strong sense of responsibility to give back and remain grounded in the communities that raised her.
Growing up, Gabby frequently traveled to San Diego, where she still has family. These visits helped her build lasting connections to the region and deepened her understanding of the diverse communities that call it home.
Gabby moved to the Bay Area for college, a transition that became a turning point in her personal and political development. It was there that she was first formally introduced to community organizing, learning how collective action, relationship building, and grassroots leadership can create meaningful social change.
Her introduction to the labor movement began earlier through her aunt, who worked at a Labor Council. This exposure inspired Gabby to explore how workers and communities organize for dignity and justice. She later deepened this commitment through an internship with PACE (Pilipino American Collegiate Endeavor), gaining hands-on experience in youth leadership, political education, and community engagement.
After returning from the Bay Area, Gabby was drawn to San Diego, believing it offered greater opportunities to work alongside the communities she cares for. Today, she brings her lived experience, organizing background, and commitment to collective liberation into her work at Viet Voices, continuing to grow.
